Atherton bagpipe with Glen bores.
This instrument is made of African
blackwood. The projecting mounts
and underbushes are artificial ivory.
Ring caps and ferrules are solid
nickel. Though it can't be seen,
every bush, projecting mount, ring
cap, and ferrule is precision threaded
onto the wood for a secure fit.
Note the exact interfacing of the
wood and the bead wires. The wood
must meet the bead wire in just
the right place--this gives a seamless
flow to the overall appearance.
The combing and beading on this
set was a custom request. The beads
are 3/16th" wide, reminiscent
of the beading style of Donald MacDonald.
The smaller beads give the pipe
a timeless and distinguished look.
I welcome custom-turning requests
as it gives me a chance to show
off my skill as a maker. |
