Atherton Bagpipes

Mouthpieces
Atherton mouthpieces are made to last. Whether they are made from real ivory, artificial ivory, horn, bone, or wood, all mouthpieces are sleeved with delrin to prevent moisture from ever touching the material. The following pictures show the care and labor that go into the making of a proper mouthpiece.

This picture shows the completed mouthpiece, the sterling silver mouthtube, and the delrin
mouthtip that runs through the silver and threads into the mouthpiece. The delrin tube clamps the mouthtube to the mouthpiece. If the delrin ever gets worn and needs replacement, it can easily be unthreaded and a new one can be made. Moisture can never touch the mouthpiece or the tube.
