2010 Atherton MacDougall reproduction in African blackwood. This set is fully mounted in holly and features sterling silver tuning slides. All parts are precison threaded. I take high resolution pictures of the facing of the holly and blackwood to show the precision in how they are threaded. If you look closely, you can see that the holly becomes so thin it is actually translucent. This is due to the thread becoming infinitely thin on one side of the part. This effect can be seen in other materials such as ivory, silver, etc., particularly on older sets of high quality. All threads are tapered as is traditional. The holly is so finely finished that it has a chatoyant appearance. If it is rotated at different angles in the light, it will have a three dimensional look.
