My "Standard" model drones are based on an exceptional set of prize winning pipes. My reproduction faithfully recreates the full-bodied drone sound and harmonics of the vintage original. This instrument is rock-steady, reeds easily, and has a deep and powerful bass drone. All D.M. Atherton bagpipes are hand-made to order, one at a time with the finest materials available.
For those that prefer a sweeter more mellow tone, I also offer a "Glen" based bagpipe. Inspired by the finest of the Glen pipemakers, this pipe features a more air-efficient design that still produces a rich and complex tone. The bass drone is not quite as powerful as the Standard models but still balances perfectly with the tenors.
